About Me

I am an Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream (CLTA) at The University of Toronto, St. George Campus. Currently completing my Ph.D. in the Department of Sociology at the same institution, I hold a Master's Degree in Sociology from the University of Toronto and a Combined Honours Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology and Gender and Women Studies from Dalhousie University.

My research interests are in the areas of sociology of education, sociological theory, the history of sociological thought, sociology of emotions, and studies of sex and gender. My dissertation research uses mixed-methodologies to come up with innovative ways to study everyday phenomenon, like boredom and daily routines. I also place a strong emphasis on bridging theory and methods together by thinking through how we can study theoretical problems empirically.

My teaching interests are similar to my research areas. I’ve taught courses in Introduction to Sociology, Sociological Theory, Qualitative Methodology, Race, Class, Gender, and Sociology of Boredom.

My research has been funded by Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) and the Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS).

My research has been published by the Canadian Review of Sociology, The American Sociologist, European Journal of Sociology, Oxford University Press, and Contexts Magazine.
